Tom Houtman aan de slag: de raad van Europa!

Liefst had ik daar u en uw organisatie in de kijker gezet. Dus ging ik voorlopig als mezelf bij President van de Europese Raad Herman Van Rompuy. Tot mijn grote plezier was er ruim tijd voor een boeiend gesprek over cartoons en kunst, over Daens, Mercator en over het onnoemelijke (economische) potentieel van de cultuur-toeristische exploitatie via tijdelijke of structurele cultuurprojecten rond onze wereldberoemde historische figuren en plaatsen. Over de reden waarom ik niet allang aan de slag was bij een geschikte cultuurinstelling leken wij het eens dat de oorzaak bij geen van ons beide kon gezocht worden. Ziet u mogelijkheden? I would have preferred to have been there just to put you and your organisation in the spotlights. So I went there on my own behalf to meet with the President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy. To my delight, there was ample time for a fascinating conversation about cartoons and art, Daens, Mercator and the untold (economic) potential of cultural tourism through structural and temporary cultural projects about our own world famous historical figures, traditions and places. Discussing about why I, with all my experience and know how, wasn’t already settled in an appropriate cultural institution, we seemed to agree that the reason could not be sought with either of us. J'aurais préféré d’être là pour y mettre à l'honneur vous et votre organisation. Alors je suis allé en mon propre nom pour un rencontre avec le président du Conseil européen Herman Van Rompuy. À ma grande joie, il y avait amplement de temps pour une conversation fascinante sur les dessins animés et l'art, Daens, Mercator et le potentiel indicibles (économique) d'exploiter à une façon touristique des projets culturels temporaires ou permanentes autour de nos célèbres personnalités, nos traditions et de nos lieux historiques. À propos de raison pour laquelle je n'ai pas eu déjà de fonction fixe dans une organisation culturelle appropriée, il nous a semblé convenir que la raison ne se trouve pas dans l’engagement d’un de nous deux.
